Pleasure in Pain

Why do we take pleasure in others pain, why do we try to rain on other's parades.

In this competitive world, where's others successes are envied because people are either threatened by them or cannot/havenot attained them themselves. Nitpicking flaws in the successes or spreading rumours that taint the successes seem to be the calling of the day.

It seems that striving and achieving success isn't enough. Looks like we have to rub it everyone's face and make sure that our successes tower above others. Ridiculous when you consider that our achievements are relative to us and there is no common scale to measure the "tower".

I ain't no saint, i've done it too. I hope not to in the future. I say hope because it comes naturally and it gonna take some effort to remedy . I'd rather revel in their achievements as well. I know this may seem naive but i'm tired of this cynical "look out for numba one" world, we seem to be going to hell in a handcart. I would like there to be more than just me in my world.
